Mamertino

In the Tenuta, at present, the wine produced is the Mamertino; one of the oldest blends in the world, whose origin dates back to Roman times. Widely celebrated by Julius Caesar, the Mamertino is a warm and generous wine that inebriates the palate, of those who taste it, of the aromas and flavors of the oldest native Sicilian varieties. It is a wine of recent rebirth, in continuous search of the importance lost over time that it is regaining, also thanks to the DOC recognition obtained in 2004. The Mamertino of Tenuta Lacco is conceived in respect of the territory and of the traditional winemaking techniques with one look at innovation, generating a wine strongly linked to the territory.

Solaria - Mamertino Rosso 2016

Produced with organic sicilian grapes in a hill of Rodì Milici (ME), harvested manually and carefully selected in the first 10 days of September.

-SOIL TYPE: calcareous-clay -TRAINIG SYSTEM: spurred cordon/ single Guyot -EXPOSURE: north, northeast -DENSITY OF PLANTATION: for 4000 ha -YIELD PER HECTARE: 6000 kg/ha -FERMENTATION: 8-10 days at a temperature of 24-26°C -VINIFICATION: traditional red wine vinification in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature -MALOLACTIC FERMENTATION: made -AGEING: 18 months in stainless steel -FURTHER AGEING: 3 months in the bottle -ALCOLIC CONTENT: 14% by vol -SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16 – 18°C -COLOUR: intense ruby red -TASTE: rich, balanced and remarkably long on the palate

-CLASSIFICATION: Mamertino Bianco D.O.C. ( Denominazione di Origine Controllata) -CERTIFICATION: Organic wine controlled and certified from CCPB Srl. -SOIL TYPE: calcareous-clay -TRAINIG SYSTEM: spurred cordon/ single Guyot -EXPOSURE: south, southwest -DENSITY OF PLANTATION: for 4000 ha -YIELD PER HECTARE: 6000 kg/ha -FERMENTATION: 15-18 days at a temperature of 14-16°C -VINIFICATION: traditional white wine vinification with static decantation, soft pressing of the grapes and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks -AGEING: on noble lees in stainless steel -FURTHER AGEING: approximately 3 months -ALCOLIC CONTENT: 14% by vol -COLOUR: straw-yellow -TASTE: notes of tropical fruit and Zagara. Its flavor is full-bodied and persistent with a crisp vein of acidity and delicately spicy aftertaste.

The particular flavor and aroma, the enveloping alcohol and the right acidity make a balanced but high-power wine.
